Six million South Africans call the Western Cape home. And with one of the world's best cities to live in - Cape Town - it's obvious why Western Cape casinos do a roaring trade.
There are several major casinos in the Western Cape, but let's kick off with the biggest and best. In fact, the first on our list could well fight for the position of best casino in South Africa.

Why We Like It:
Almost two-thirds of Western Cape inhabitants live in Cape Town. No wonder, then, that 6 million visitors a year frequent the GrandWest.
But it's not just a convenience factor that sees millions of locals frequent the GrandWest; the casino boasts over 2,500 slots and 64 table games. Simply, the GrandWest is one of South Africa's biggest and best casinos.
Part of the giant Sun International chain, the GrandWest certainly puts the 'Grand' in the title when you see the exterior - part-colonial mansion, part-Disney palace. But that the exterior looks like something from the Vegas Strip is no accident; the GrandWest boasts 'Las Vegas-scale' casino action all the way.
There are over 2,500 slot machines - available to play 24/7 - and almost 80 table games. The Salon Privé has plenty of action for MVG VIP players, while promotions run from the usual (Tremendous Triples on points) to the spectacular (multi-million Rand prize draw giveaways). When it comes to a straight race with Sun City, the GrandWest is up there in the running.

Why We Like It:
One of the biggest casinos in the Western Cape, Mossel Bay's Garden Route boasts enough gaming action to make you forget (briefly) that the inviting Atlantic is waiting outside.
There are 200 slots in the non-smoking portion of the casino, with another 166 in the smoking portion of the site. VIP gamblers, meanwhile, can enjoy 42 further games in the Salon Prive section.
Raise 'Em Poker, American Roulette and blackjack are the standard table games on offer for players elsewhere.

Why We Like It:
Opened in 2000, Langebaan's Mykonos Casino may boast little that's Greek other than a sign logo and some meat kebabs in the restaurant, but inside the weather is bright and sunny.
Table games like blackjack, American Roulette and Reef Routine Poker are available to play, while 320 slots machines can be played from 2c to R10. There are also eight progressive jackpot slots available to play in the casino.
Promotions run all week, but the Tsogo Sun's 'progressive' Slots Factor' offer runs for months across multiple casinos sites. Up for grabs is a share of R2.4 million in cash and freeplay by playing your favourite video slots.
If food and entertainment is more your thing, the Black Pearl offers stylish meals, while pizza specials in the Marisol is a little more basic.
Visit: https://www.suninternational.com/golden-valley/
Why We Like It:
It might be "just" three-star, but Worcester's Golden Valley certainly wins the prize for prettiest location. The moonlit pool backs on to the Breede River Valley, and if you have a car Cape Town is only an hour's drive away.
But forget Cape Town for now, and enjoy the Golden Valley's slot machines (220 in total) including some great Bally slots like 50 Lions. There are just six games tables, a nice spread of American Roulette, blackjack and Raise 'Em Poker, while new players get to try out the roulette table with cheap R2 games for two hours a day.
